Top Ten Ways to Adopt a Simple but Energetic Lifestyle

Adopt a Simple but Energetic Lifestyle

This article is about ten ways to adopt a simple but energetic lifestyle. It’s not about another loss weight management system. I know you have been there and done that! It’s about how to adapt to a different lifestyle that may affect your weight loss. I am no expert in the weight loss program, but I have maintained a healthy body weight all my life, merely adopting a lifestyle that I am about to share with you. The bottom line is that I’m not sacrifice anything, nor am I suggesting that you sacrifice anything! One thing is for sure, if you start adopting one or two of the items below, you may end up adopting all of them, if not most of them. I am very content with my lifestyle, so here goes…

If you are so involved in a weight loss program, maybe you have been looking in the wrong places. Most weight loss management programs call for immediate results, and I don’t blame them since you invest a fortune in the program. My ten approaches are back to basics, to adopt a simple but energetic lifestyle, that has been proven effective, maybe for thousands of years: a simple and humble lifestyle.

Regardless of the results, adopting this lifestyle has many benefits:

  • It doesn’t cost you anything
  • You can reach your long-term goals
  • Better health for some
  • Better quality of life for some

Obesity has become a pandemic in the US. Clearly, something has gone wrong with the American lifestyle as we know it.

There are so many weight loss programs out there. Many work when you in a “diet mode.” As soon as you turn that off, you start going back to your previous habits.

Here are my top ten ways to adopt a simple but energetic lifestyle

1. Watch Calorie Intake

There is an adage that says if you spend more money than you make, you are financially in trouble. It works the same way with calories. The USDA recommended consumption for average Americans is 2,000 calories per day. Depending on your daily activities, this figure can go up or down. If you are an inactive person or an 8-5 office person, your recommended daily calories may need to be lowered. Sure, you can burn extra calories by sweating 1-2 hours on a treadmill. Either way, watch and balance your calorie intake. Finding alternative low-calorie substitutes can help.

2. Jogging

Try to jog at least 15 minutes after each meal (not before the meal). Avoid sitting or sleeping right after you eat. Let your digestive system begin to work immediately after you eat. Be active, and speed up your metabolism. At least you can take the stairs instead of the elevator after your lunch. Whatever it is, be active right after you eat.

3. Drink Water

We have been told that our body needs 8 cups of water per day. Well, here you can free two birds with one key. Drink two cups of water on an empty stomach, preferably when you wake up in the morning and 30 minutes before each meal, one of the best approaches to adopt a simple but energetic lifestyle. Then, avoid taking liquid with foods. You can still enjoy light wine with pasta. No matter what, avoid sugary sodas at all costs. When food and beverage are mixed in your stomach, it can take longer to digest solid foods, at least in my opinion.

4. Plant-based Diets

Substitute plant-based diets as much as you can. We live in a world of advanced technology. We can make this advantageous to our lives. With advanced technologies, plant-based foods are abundant compared to ten years ago. I am not referring to highly processed foods or canned foods. Whatever your favorite food is, I am sure you can substitute it with plant-based alternatives. I am not suggesting replacing plant-based for every food you eat, just a few to start. In fact, the more you do, the better you will feel.

5. Take Probiotics

Take probiotic supplements regularly or enjoy unsweetened yogurts with each meal, preferably as a dessert. You need good bacteria to help your digestive system. You can find probiotics in any grocery store or pharmacy in the dietary supplements’ aisle, or you can order online if you prefer. Click here to order online. Either way, probiotics are everywhere. Here are some of the things you may want to consider when you buy probiotics. First, consider the colony-forming units (CFU) or the number of living microorganisms in the product. A higher unit doesn’t mean it is better, but it may be a good indicator. Perhaps you can start with around 10 billion CFUs. Second, consider the storage and expiration date. You may want to keep it in the original bottle to keep it alive. Third and most importantly, consider the combination of strains. Another approach to adopt a simple but energetic lifestyle.

6. Good Night’s Sleep

Have a good night’s dream at least 90 minutes before midnight. Falling asleep before midnight can be good for a healthy lifestyle. When you search the Internet, you will find that scientific publications state, “Every hour of sleep before midnight is worth two after midnight.” Our grandparents rarely stayed up past midnight. They didn’t have TV programs to keep them up all night or a smartphone to keep them up late at night. Our blessed generation rarely falls asleep before midnight. I said “blessed” because we have so many fun activities to keep us going all night long. I am just as guilty as everyone else. It seems everything you do or eat at night is much more fun. Moreover, refrain from eating at least four hours before your bedtime. See my reasoning below.

7. Eat More Fiber

Consume more fiber-containing fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and whole grains. This is especially helpful if you have persistent constipation. Fiber from fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and whole grains are buddies to your digestive system. Since I am not a nutritionist, I really can’t provide great detail, but you can find tons of scientific findings by searching on the Internet.

8. Don’t Pick Up That Salt Shaker!

Americans intake sodium more than we should. If you are not working outside sweating, you want to keep your sodium intake to a minimum. If you habitually eat less and less salt, your taste buds will adapt. Let this happen! It could be one of the best approaches to adopt a simple but energetic lifestyle

9. Never Skip Breakfast

Have a king’s breakfast and a pauper’s dinner. Cardinal rule number one for health: Never skip breakfast. You are more than welcome to skip that steak dinner. You want to fall asleep with an empty stomach, so your stomach doesn’t have to work the night shift. When your stomach works to digest that steak you just ate the night before, you feel tired waking up in the morning. Let every part of your body have a sweet dream. This last one can be challenging for many people. It’s extremely difficult to undo everything that you have been doing your entire life! My suggestion is don’t push yourself. If you do, you will stress out and give up altogether. Start gradually, saving 25% of your dinner steak and pie for tomorrow.

10. Meditate

Maintain quality time for yourself and you alone. Routinely take 30 to 60 minutes to walk in the evening by yourself, preferably after dinner. I find the best time to meditate is while exercising. Try it. Leave your phone or iPod at home and spend quality time all by yourself.

I hope that this article helps you in many different ways.

  • First, live a vibrant life
  • Second, maintain weight control, and
  • Third, lead a happy and healthful lifestyle.

I realize that this is not for everyone, just a few who want to adapt to a new lifestyle. Again, this article is not about a weight loss program. It’s about changing and adapting to a different type of lifestyle. I don’t claim a better lifestyle.

When I wrote this article, “Top Ten Ways to Adopt a Simple but Energetic Lifestyle,” I assumed you had already given up bad habits, such as smoking, drugs, or excessive alcohol. If not, make that your priority. Please remember, radical change to your body does no good at all. Start gradually and wisely. You are in this for your lifetime, not just a few months, so enjoy your life to the fullest! There is no yesterday! Adopting a different lifestyle is not about living unhappily, but rewardingly. If you crave something, have it joyfully! Have a happy life! After all, stress is your worst enemy.
